Label printer doesn't work | Print problems and solutions

If your label printer doesn't work, follow these steps.

1. Basic control - always check first

  • Is the printer on?

  • Is the USB cable firmly connected? (It can be released due to vibration.)

  • Will there be a blank label when you press the feed button?

Turn the printer off and on.

If you haven't printed before today, you can remove the printer from standby. Or click on the 'Feed' button. Then try printing again.

2. Is Printhelper on the computer that the printer is attached to?

PrismaNote prints via the Printhelper program. If this is not on the computer that the printer is attached to, labels will not come out of the printer.

1. Go to the computer the printer is connected to.

2. Click Start on your Windows computer at the bottom left (or open "Finder" on a MacOS).

3. Now type the word "helper."

4. Click the App PrismaNote Printhelper App to open it.

The program now starts automatically.

Tip

Will there be a message that says 'Print helper is already running...'?Then the program was already on.

Is the program not on the computer? Follow the Printhelper download steps.

Does the Printhelper program ask for a password?

You can find this information in PrismaNote:

- Click on 'Shop Settings' in the menu

- Click on the 'Print settings' tab

3. Are the correct workstation and printer selected in PrismaNote?

A workstation is a separate workplace, to which printers are connected.

Has the correct workstation been selected?

1. Click on 'Dashboard' in the menu

2. Click next to the location on the workstation

3. Click on the correct workstation

Has the correct printer been selected at the workstation?

1. Click on 'Shop Settings' in the menu

2. Click on the 'Printer Settings' tab

3. Look at the column in which you see at the top of your workstation. Scroll to the ZPL row and see if the correct printer is paired.

Tip

You can click the blue button to change the printer. You can click Select Printer in the field if no printer is selected.

4. Are there unusual lights burning on the printer?

Usually this occurs when the label roll or ink roll has been replaced.

Are there unusual lights burning on the printer? If so:

-Are there enough labels in the printer?

- Is the ribbon of the label roll well between the (two yellow) conductors?

- Is the label roll ribbon with the printed side up?

- When replacing the ink roll, the empty winding tape / cardboard roll is on the Top role?

- When replacing the ink roll, the full ribbon is on the Subrol?

-Is the printer tightly closed?

-Is the printer not on a break?

Below are common problems and easy solutions.

Printer is not recognized on the computer

  1. Check that the USB port is working.
  2. Connect the printer to another port or computer.
  3. Reinstall the correct Zebra driver. This can be downloaded via https://info.prismanote.com/tools

Printer print blank labels

  1. Check that the labels are placed correctly.
  2. Perform a calibration/alignment of the label (see the steps below under Problem: the layout is on the wrong side)
  3. Check if you are using thermal labels.

Printer stops after 1 label or print half labels

  1. Check that the labels are placed correctly.

The labels are misprinted

Below are common problems and easy solutions.

Problem: all data is printed at the top left of the label

Cause: the printer is the layout of the layout.

Solution:

1.Click on 'Shop Settings' in the menu

2. Click on the 'Print settings' tab

3. Click on the 'Labels' section

4. Click the 'Send to layout' button for the respective layout.

5. Then click on the green button with the print icon to print a test label.

Problem:The layout is on the wrong side (TheLayoutIt is wrongly aligned)

Cause: the alignment is not set properly.

Solution: the alignment must be adjusted.

1.Click on 'Shop Settings' in the menu

2. Click on the 'Print settings' tab

3. Click on the 'Labels' section

4. Click on the 'Auxiliaries' button

5. Click on the 'Calibrate' button

6. Click on the 'Send' button

Problem: the label is poorly readable

Is a label hard to read? Go through the next steps.

1. Click on 'Shop Settings' in the menu

2. Click on the 'Print settings' tab

3. Click or scroll to the 'Labels' section

4. Click on the 'Auxiliaries' button

5. A new screen appears. Click on the 'Media Dark' button

6. Click on the 'Send' button
