Making your website page findable

9 min read·Updated 12/05/2026

The search engine looks at various components to determine a page's ranking.

Add the information below to the page and you will be shown higher.

In addition, ranking also depends on competition, general website ranking, number of visitors, and website speed.

For example, you will be found less quickly for the keyword Watches than for the keyword Watches in Haarlem.

What should be on the page

The word you want to rank high for in Google is called the keyword. Below are 9 tips. Also, improve the information under 'Other factors'.

1. Use 300 to 1,000 words

Write at least 300 words, but preferably 1,000 words. Do not copy texts from other websites.

2. Use the keyword 5 times

Make sure the word you want to be found for appears 5 times in this text.

If you have more than 600 words, it can be more often.

Make sure the word doesn't appear too often (10 times is too much), as that will be counterproductive.

3. Put the keyword in at least 3 different titles

To make the text readable, it is important for the search engine to add titles to the text. You recognize a title by the word Heading 1 (or H2, H3, H4, H5, or H6) in the text editor bar.

Use Heading 1 (H1) only once on the page and with the word you want to be found for. Also, make sure you build the text from H1 to H6. For example: H1, text, H2, text, H3, text, H3, text, H4, text | instead of | H1, text, H4, text, H3, text, H2, text.

Then put the keyword in at least 3 different titles: H1, H2, and an H3 (and an H4).

4. Put the keyword at the top and front

Always put the keyword at the top of the page with an H1. Also, put the keyword in the first sentence of the text below it. This gives more priority to these words.

Link from other pages to this page if it concerns the keyword. For example, on the page of a specific brand, you put the text: View all men's watches. Behind this, you then paste the link to the men's watches page.

Also, place at least 1 link on the page to another internal page. Especially if the consumer clicks on it, the search engine gets a good signal that it is interesting. However, do not put too many internal links on the page, as this can harm the value of the page concerned, according to Yoast.

Your page gets a boost if other websites link to your page to read more about the topic. In addition, it is a bonus if you also link once from the page to another website (don't forget to check 'open in a new tab') so as not to completely lose the visitor.

8. One keyword per website page

Use only 1 keyword per page per website (You may create a separate page for Men's watches and women's watches, but for example, not 2 pages that you want to rank high for, for example, the word Watches).

9. Add an image with alt text

Add an image to the page and put the keyword in the Alt text field in the pop-up.

Follow these steps to add the Alt text:

1. Click on an image

2. Click on the 'Content' tab

3. Scroll down a bit and describe the photo in the 'Alt text' field

This is read by search engines, so describe the image and mention the word you want the page, where the image is located, to be found for.

Optional: add an example section to the page

We have created an example section with all the information you can easily add to any page. This way, you only have to change the texts and images.

Add example section in 3 steps

  • Go to the relevant page

  • Point the cursor to the blue + icon halfway down the page, so that “+ Add section becomes visible”. Click on it.

  • A new menu appears. Go to “Shop” (at the bottom), choose the first option (with Title H1) and click Save in the top right corner.

Now the example text has been added to the page. Then change this information for your own texts.
